TMD with Anterior Open Bite
TAD (Temporary Anchorage Device) is a mini-implant attached to the bone that allows control of tooth movement that is not possible with conventional orthodontic anchorage.
This adult has TMJ pain as a direct result of an open bite. Under conventional anchorage scenarios jaw surgery would be required to close the bite. In this case a palatal TAD was used to provide an anchorage point to close the bite without surgery. TADs are new to orthodontics.
